Oscar Isaac's Poe Dameron will play a much larger role in Star Wars: Episode VIII as each member of the film's heroic cast is tested.

Rolling Stone reports that Isaac's character is undoubtedly a "far bigger deal" in the followup to The Force Awakens. While rumors suggest his role was beefed up in response to his performance, Isaac claims it's because he's no longer planned to be killed off.

"In the new film, there's a lot more to do," Isaac said of his role in Episode VIII. "What happens now is the heroes get tested. All three of them," he added, noting Poe, Rey (Daisy Ridely) and Finn (John Boyega) will all "get tested immensely."

With regard to what lies ahead for BB-8, Isaac said the lovable droid is "doing all right," adding, "BB-8 gets tested too! Everybody gets tested! It's the dark second chapter, but not really dark."

Isaac also revealed that all of his humorous lines in Star Wars: The Force Awakens were added during reshoots, many of which were improvised. "We're making s**t up as we go," he said.

Star Wars: Episode VIII is directed by Rian Johnson and opens in theaters on December 15, 2017. For more on Disney and Lucasfilms' highly anticipated eighth installment, find out what Boyega had to say about the likelihood of a Finn-Rey romance.
